Johanna (Mayer) Schmid
April 16, 1963 - July 23, 2003

Johanna was my cousin - her dad is my Mom's brother, Totus Mayer.

I didn't know Johanna very well, but one meeting stands out for me. In August 1999 my aunt and uncle Barbara and Aaron France celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home near Missoula. Johanna and I were some of the many people in attendance. We each had children in crisis. Her daughter, Anitra, had cancer and was battling for survivial. My son Kevin and my grandson Forrest had died the previous year and I was still struggling to deal with those twin blows. Johanna and I talked for a long time and shared our thoughts and feelings - I took great comfort from her insights.
