Another humorous story has to do with a motorcycle I had
owned for several years. Well I never was the master mechanic that
Kevin was and one day after riding my bike with some friends I flipped
the bike and fell off. The bike landed upside down with the throttle
full open. Of course before I could get to it the engine seized up.
I had to beat the kick-starter with a boulder to finally get it to turn
over. I drove it back to Gramma’s house the next day and was
showing the bike to Kevin. He pulled the oil plug and out comes black
oil laced with metal slivers and one “Big” bubble gum size of warped engine
fragment. Kevin looked at me and said something like “you need to
buy and new bike and fast”. Just then Andy Figg rode up on his bicycle
and I said “Hey Andy wanna buy my motorcycle?” So I agreed
to sell it to him for a pretty good amount. Far more than it was
worth in the shape it was in. So Kevin showed Andy the piece that
came out in the oil and we both told him that this had just came from inside
the oil case and that he should take heed before he bought the bike.
Andy was quite used to our practical jokes and began laughing so uncontrollably
that he was crying. No matter how much Kevin or I tried to be serious
with him about it he thought it was a great joke. Yeah right he said
as peddled to the bank to get the cash. Kevin and I were surprised
that that bike lasted for another few years with Andy as the owner when
we thought it would certainly blow up in Gramma’s driveway.
